Nightkit visits the medicine cat

Nightkit limped in and mewed"i think i broke my paw."Nightkit mewe.

Shadowfang was at the back of his den, packing away his juniper berries when Nightkit limped in.
Hearing the kit, he quickly spun around and walked up towards her.
"Just relax." He told her as he gently pricked her paw.

"ow that hurts......"Nightkit mewed as she sprang back.

Shadowfang thought for a moment, as he went to the back of his den to get some poppyseed, he asked Nightkit, "What were you doing before you got injured?"
He began to think to himself, If this paw is broken, would Nightkit be able to grow up as a warrior? Unless she can hunt and fight, she most likely will have to be confined to the camp... But if it's a sprain...

"well i was dared to jump off a big rock and i did and so i think i broke my paw...."Nightkit mewed disapointed at what she did.

Shadowfang muttered something under his breath, he wet his paw and picked up two poppyseed, "Here." He meowed as he handed out his paw for Nightkit to take the seeds. "If you did break your paw, I'll need you to stay in here until I can see if it's sprained or not."
Please Starclan may it not be broken! What use would a warrior be if they couldn't use a paw?

"am i in trouble.."Nightkit mewed about to cry.

Shadowfang shook his head, "No, your not in trouble, I just have to keep a close eye on you. That's all."
He began to prepare a moss bed for Nightkit.

"oh okay do you need any help?"Nightkit asked.

Shadowfang shook his head, he smiled, but said nothing until the moss bed was finished.
"I don't expect you to do anything until that paw of yours is good enough to walk on."

((May I ask, does Nightkit want to be a med cat apprentice?))

Shadowfang had a flicker of doubt pass him, but he pushed the thought away.

((Sure, but first I have to make Shadowfang actually ask Nightkit, then it will be announced to Nightclan before the medicine cat gathering, where Nightkit will officially be a med cat apprentice... I was asking because it might effect Nightkit's allowance of a mate and kits. Anyways, I'll post as Shadowfang.))

Shadowfang closed his eyes as a slight breeze blew through. there was a whisper on the wind, but whatever it said he couldn't quite catch. I know I'm not getting any younger. Already I fear leaving this clan without a medicine cat... I think it's time I find myself an apprentice.
The voice on the wind teased his ear fur, whispering softly, only loud enough for him to hear, "The shadow belongs to the night of the moon... Follow the moon to a new light, and there will be the one to choose."

the voice cut off, leaving chills running down Shadowfang's spine. He opened his eyes to see the stars where the starclan warriors roamed. their bright stars where dim, but still there. the voice whispered, "Follow the night until the moon falls down the crest of dawn."

there was a glimpse of Rainpelt, but her eyes where the only thing visible, "Shadowfang... It's time, for you to move on from the past." The vision faded, and Shadowfang blinked the vision away. that was a message from Starclan no doubt... It's time. he looked briefly at Nightkit, then sighed.
"Nightkit." he murmured, "What would you say if I was to ask you if you could be my apprentice?"

Nightkit was licking her paw when she heard Shadowfang's question"um....sure."Nightkit mewed.

Shadowfang nodded, he then turned his head away, meowing, "If you are serious about this, it means you are not allowed to have a mate or kits, but you will be trained to heal your clanmates, are you willing to do this?"

"i ...... am."Nightkit mewed slowly.

Shadowfang nodded, "I'll go speak with Brokenstar about this." ((I'll post as brokenstar for this forum.))
he padded out of the den.
